Morning Musings: Layar Back in the iTunes App Store

As we have reported in the past, the Layar Augmented Reality Browser is an exciting tool we hope to leverage more here on campus.  However, one of the limiting factors with this AR Browser was the fact that it would only work realably on Android based phones, as it had been pulled from the Apple iTunes App Store due to stability issues.

We are happy to announce that Layar is back in the App Store and available for the iPhone 3GS. The new Layar Reality Browser has a re-engineered engine under the hood. This new engine makes the application light, stable and very quick. It is ready to handle all the current layers and it is a good base to realize all of our exciting future plans.” – Layar.com

Well, the time has come and Layar has returned to the iTunes App Store for your downloading pleasure. TechCrunch reports that Layar has received more funding for the AR Browser, and are on a bit of a growth spurt.  Currently, Layar offers over 400 individual AR Layars to download and use on your iPhone or Android Smartphone.

So for you iPhone users head over to the iTunes App Store and download it now.

Android users use the QR code to head over to the Market Place.
