New Accessories in Windows 7

Two new accessories in Windows 7 really sparked my interest. The first is a tool called Snipping Tool this tool is very similar to Snag-IT and allows you take screen shots of sections of your computer screen. On a lab machine this is wonderful, since they did not have Snag-IT and therefore the only way to do a screen shot of an error message was to do a Print Screen which gave the whole screen image. This tool is found on the Start menu under Accessories.

The second is a more hidden tool. It is called the Problem Steps Recorder. This allows you to record all the steps you are doing. If something you are doing is creating an error, you can record all the steps you perform to get the error. Save the file of the recording and then send it off to tech support. The Tech support person then sees exactly what you are doing and can trouble shoot more effectively from there. To get to this tool, in the Start Menu Search programs and files box type Problem Steps Recorder. It will find Record Steps to reproduce a problem, click this and then you will be ready to start the recording.
