Creating narrated Powerpoint presentations has become quite popular these days. Despite some of its quirks Adobe Presenter – freely available to Purdue faculty and staff thanks to our campus license – is still one of the best and easiest to use options for our users.

One way to minimize Adobe Presenter issues is to make sure you have installed the latest “patch” for the software. You can update your Adobe Presenter Add-in by following the steps below:

1. Open Microsoft Powerpoint and click on the Adobe Presenter link in the Menu Bar.
2. In the Adobe Presenter Menu, click the Help button. Initially you will NOT see the “Updates” link. You first have to click on the About Adobe Presenter link.
   This will bring a pop-up window telling you about the Presenter version you are running.
3. Close the window, and click on the Help menu again, then click the Updates link.
   Presenter will check to see if there are any available updates and will start installing them. You will be prompted to close Powerpoint during the installation.
4. If you haven’t installed updates for a while, you have to repeat steps 1-3 again, until all updates are installed. As of today, the latest patch for Adobe Presenter is version 7.0.6.

The process is a little cumbersome but it is the only way to make sure Adobe Presenter runs smoothly on your computer.
